Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-10
This policy explains what we collect and how we use it when you use SpikeReel.
What we collect
- Account data: your email and basic profile from your sign-in provider.
- Content you submit: the videos/audio you upload or link, and the clips and transcripts generated from them.
- Usage data: jobs created, minutes processed, and basic logs needed to run and secure the Service.
- Billing data: handled by our payment processor; we store only a customer/subscription reference, never card numbers.
How we use it
To provide the Service (transcribe, clip, caption), enforce plan limits, process payments, prevent abuse, and communicate about your account.
Sharing
We share data only with the processors needed to run the Service (e.g. hosting, the payment processor, and the sign-in provider you choose). We do not sell your personal data.
Connected accounts & the YouTube API
If you connect a social account to publish or schedule clips, we store the access tokens needed to post on your behalf, and we use those tokens only to publish the content you choose, to your account. We never read your private content beyond what is needed to confirm the connection and post.
SpikeReel uses YouTube API Services. By connecting YouTube you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's use of your information is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke SpikeReel's access to your Google account at any time via the Google security settings page.
Cookies
SpikeReel uses only strictly necessary cookies, the kind required for the Service to work. We do not use any advertising, marketing, or analytics/tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share cookie data.
- Authentication: a session cookie keeps you signed in, plus a security (CSRF) cookie that protects your requests.
- Payments: when you check out, our payment processor (Stripe) sets its own cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud.
Because these cookies are essential to providing the Service, no consent banner is required for them. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but signing in and checkout may stop working if you do.
Data security
We protect your data — including sensitive data such as the Google/YouTube authorization we hold on your behalf — with industry-standard safeguards. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on access-controlled servers, with access limited to what is required to operate the Service. Google OAuth access and refresh tokens are encrypted in transit, stored solely to provide the YouTube publishing feature you enabled, never sold or shared with third parties, and used only in accordance with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can revoke SpikeReel's access at any time via your Google Account permissions or by disconnecting YouTube in the app; on disconnection or account deletion, the associated tokens and Google-derived data are deleted.
Retention & deletion
Source media and clips are stored to provide the Service; you can delete a project at any time, which removes its files. Disconnecting a social account deletes its stored tokens. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us, and we delete YouTube-derived data we no longer need.
